TESTING AFFECTED BY THE RAIN, RACE CONFIGURATION WORK FOR GO ELEVEN!
The weather in 2025 does not seem to want to let the Superbike Teams and riders riding in testing; after having skipped the two days pre-Australia due to rain, Andrea Iannone and Team Go Eleven went back to the Portimao track to collect datas and get ready for Round 02 WorldSBK, which will be held from 28 to 30 March at the Autodromo Internacional Do Algarve.
Day 1 saw the riders take to the track in the early afternoon, having to wait a long time in the pits before the track dried completely. Work concentrated in a few hours, therefore, and the rider from Vasto faced the session in race configuration, without looking for a time attack. Some difficulties in adapting to the track, mainly when entering corners, affected the final laptime, when, however, the important thing was to collect data and find a good set-up in view of the race and Day 2.
Day 1:
P 1 T. Razgatlioglu 1.40.543
P 2 N. Bulega + 0.625
P 3 A. Locatelli + 0.659
…
P 12 A. Iannone + 1.531
Day 2 begins with asphalt in excellent conditions, so much so that all the riders found faster times than the previous day. On the first outing Andrea goes under 42 and finds the best time of the day in 1.41.514. When the feeling seemed to improve, the rain returned to be the protagonist, stopping the session until the last hour. Work program to be reviewed for the day, thus also eliminating the possibility of attempting a fast lap at the best time, towards mid-day. About 40 minutes from the end the track returned to good conditions, and it was possible to make a few laps with comparisons compared to the morning. On the second day, more work was done on connecting the electronics between various sectors of the track. It was difficult to have direct feedback compared to the other riders, since there were different tyre compounds with different performances, but the important thing was to collect datas and find a correct set-up; the temperatures and conditions were very different compared to the race in August last year, so much so that the set-up of the Panigale V4 had to be completely readjusted; conditions that, however, in two weeks will be similar to the two days that have just ended. It is important to underline that today Andrea did not find a perfect lap in all sectors, so much so that there are six tenths of ideal time, a sign that the room for improvement is considerable.
Day 2:
P 1 T. Razgatlioglu 1.39.592
P 2 N. Bulega + 0.425
P 3 A. Lowes + 0.767
…
P 14 A. Iannone + 1.922
Denis Sacchetti (Team Manager):
“Unfortunately, even in these tests we were unable to carry out the work fully due to the adverse weather; furthermore, the track conditions and the climate, very windy and cold, were completely different compared to last year, so much so that we had to change the set-up. We mainly focused the work on corner entry and on the electronics connection and interesting and important datas were collected to work on in these weeks before the World Championship Round. We only used the SC0, while some switched to the qualifying tyres, so it is complicated to make comparisons. We take home the good things we have collected and we are concentrating on getting ready for the Championship race.”
