WORLDSBK GETS INTO THE HEART OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP TWO ROUND IN A ROW, STARTING FROM DONINGTON PARK!

From the heat of Misano to the cool English weather. WorldSBK moves to the UK to kick off the first of two back to back races. Donington Park hosts Round 05 of the 2024 season. Breathtaking track, a continuous up and down between green meadows, with some iconic sections that have made motorcycling famous: the very fast first sector, the Fogarty Esses and the two hairpins that then lead to the finish line. Here the speed combined with the strong braking makes the track complete, providing spectacular and hard-fought races.

For the Donington Round the weather will be crucial, the forecast at the moment seems rather variable with cool temperatures: intermittent rain is expected on Friday and Saturday, however on Sunday the situation should be better. Here to the UK, Pirelli has brought a selection of very standard tyres, SCX, SC0 and the high-performance rear SCQ. The choice, from a race perspective, could be unique and facilitate the technicians’ work on the track, without requiring particular comparisons. Andrea Iannone returns to Donington park after many years, his last race here was way back in 2008 riding the 125 GP. Located in Leicestershire, the track, not one of the most familiar to the rider from Vasto, will be tested during the free practice sessions on Friday. Going from a 125 to a Superbike leads to completely readjusting the riding style along the 4020 meters: references, braking points and changes of direction. Bringing the attention to the technical level, there will be two innovations to try on the track regarding the weight distribution on the V4-R, specifically designed for Andrea’s riding and physique. In free practice it will be important to evaluate all the technical aspects, so as to eliminate any doubts before the “hot” sessions.

Andrea Iannone (Rider):

“I’m happy to return to Donington after so many years. My last visit dates back to when I was riding the 125, it will be nice to rediscover the track with a different type of bike, with a lot more horsepower. I remember it as a smooth and fun track. We will do our best, hoping that the weather conditions are stable enough.”
