PHILLIP ISLAND – ROUND 1; LET’S START!
The long-awaited day has come; first Thursday pre-event of the 2024 season, in the paddock and among the inside workers there is plenty of emotions and curiosities. A first clue regarding the riders potential was provided by the tests carried out on Tuesday, in almost perfect conditions.
Andrea Iannone and Team Go Eleven found the right feeling with the Ducati Panigale V4-R in the new yellow livery, confirming themselves at the top of the ranking; from Friday, however, all the values will be equated and it will be possible to have a first chronometric confirmation of the real value. The biggest unknown remains tyre drop; today a decision will be made regarding the length and format of the races which could undergo variations due to excessive wear of the rear Pirellis. Furthermore, from tomorrow a clear drop in temperatures is expected and the arrival of light rain which could further alter the results in Phillip Island.
The WorldSBK world is waiting for any last minute decisions, but in the meantime everything is ready for Day 1, the last pictures in the afternoon, then it will be time to start the engines!
“I’m very excited, it will be the first race since a long time. We come from quite positive pre-season tests but as I have already said in the last few days, we have to keep low profile and keep working hard if we want to try to achieve the results we hope so. For this first weekend of the Championship I don’t have high expectations, it’s important that I feel calm while riding and to be able to enjoy every lap.”
